The library began its activities in early March 2022 with a small shelf of Ukrainian literature in the national library.
In August 2022, we moved to our own premises in Põhjala tehas. During this time, the library expanded its collection thanks to caring readers and grant support from the Integration Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Estonia. In April 2024, we decided to change locations, so we moved to our new premises at Maneeži 3 - 214.
Currently, we have around 4600 books, a bit more than 3100 out of them are in Ukrainian. Over time, nearly 500 families have visited the library.
Our goal is to support children by giving them access to books in their native language and creating a welcoming space where they can express themselves creatively. We want every child in Estonia to have the chance to join engaging activities, make new friends, and simply enjoy a good book whenever they feel like it.

Who better than us to know the value of mutual support, even if it seems small at first glance? Because even a little help is better than none. This is exactly how our library is created: everyone brings their book, and now we have more than 4500 books.
But now it's not about the books, it's about donations. We are grateful to each of you who donates to the needs of the library, because there are many. The most urgent expenses are basic needs. Thanks to regular monthly donations, we will be able to plan the library's work, make it even cozier, and make the activities even more interesting.
A donation of any size, but regular, is a huge support for us. For example, 6 donations of €20 each is 1/4 of the rent. 263 donations of €4 each cover the rent and utilities.
Donating is not only pleasant but also beneficial. Because now Spilno Library is included in the tax incentive list (you can reduce your taxable income by the amount of donations, and get the overpaid tax refunded)
